Job Thread

Notice the little Want Jobs list on the right hand side of this blog? Its called a Widget. Funny name if you ask me. Heck I didn't even know thats what it was called till someone told me. Why couldn't they have named it an add-on or something.. ? Makes me wonder..

Anyway, this post is about the Widget. Its a Widget from Job Thread. As its name so obviously implies, its a site where people can advertise job vacancies, look at available jobs or for bloggers to display the site's Widget on their respective blogs/sites. As with almost everything on this site, you can earn money by displaying this Widget on your site. For every click someone makes on the Widget, you get paid. Payment is via Paypal and the minimum payout threshold is 20US$. So far I haven't reached minimum payout yet but thanks to some of you who actually click on it, I have a little money waiting in my Job Thread account. Once I get paid by them, I will display the payment proof and then you will know if this site is a scam or not. So far, no one has said that this site is a scam.

You will find some jobs that are available locally (if you look at it now you will see at least two Malaysian jobs if you are accessing this blog from Malaysia). Most of the jobs are USA jobs. USA residents would find this Widget most useful.

If you want to display the Widget on your site/blog, here's the link to Job Thread. Any blog that gives emphasis on making money won't be complete without this Widget.

Ground Report

Are you a good writer? Do you have a penchant for reporting news? Do you think that people need to know the truth but your local media is a biased piece of s**t? Then here is something suitable for you. Ground Report. Ground Report is an independent news website. Anyone and everyone can submit their news articles on this site, whether it be video or text news. Why submit news on a website when you can just put it up in a blog you may ask? The reason should be pretty obvious by now: money. Yes, thats right. Money. Ground Report pays you for publishing news on their site. They don't pay a one-off payment like what some sites like Associated Content do. They pay you by page views. The more views you have, the more you get paid. These views can come solely from other Ground Report members or you can promote it to your friends and make them read it. I don't know how much Ground Report does to promote your articles so its best to promote it yourself.

Payment is via Paypal. There is no minimum payout. Ground Report pays you automatically every month. I only have one problem with their payout: the time they take to pay you. For example, I received my January 2009 payment only in the last week of February. Very slow, but they pay nevertheless. Therefore, I can assure you that this site is genuine. Periodically, they hold contests (usually for video news items) and the contests have cash prizes as well as a chance to appear on TV (American TV). So, if you are interested, this is the link to Ground Report. Happy reporting! Oh and check out my page Lord of Darkness. =P

Review Stream (Updated 12/03/09)

I found a new site a few days ago that pays you for writing reviews. The site name is Review Stream. This site is quite different from other sites in the sense that it does not have a member home page. All you have to do is type in your email and your review. Now you would say that it sounds like a scam site. I thought so too. I tried searching for evidence of this site being a scam site but I found plenty of good comments on the site instead. Therefore I decided to submit a few reviews and see for myself. So far, I haven't gotten any reply for the reviews I wrote. You see, the procedure goes like this. First you submit a review. The review will be looked at and you will be given a reply within 3 working days. I submitted mine on last Friday night so maybe thats why I haven't gotten any reply yet. They will either pay you the full rate which is currently at 2USD per review or the bulk rate which is 40 cents if you had checked the bulk rate acceptance box. Minimum payout is 50USD via Paypal. That is a very high payout threshold. You would need to write 25 reviews to reach that level. I will write more on this site once I get a reply from them and I will certify this site as a genuine site once I get paid by them. Until then, if you want to check the site out and see for yourself if it is genuine, here's the link to Review Stream.

Now here is an update. Out of 5 reviews I posted, they accepted 4 and rejected one today. The reason they gave was - "Sorry, but we're not interested to buy this review at the rate you are asking". Kinda blunt don't you think? They also suggested "Please visit our FAQ page to learn more about the bulk rate option". Well I'm not interested in earning 40 cents a review so I just edited it and resubmitted it. I also asked them a question about payment. Their reply was almost immediate! 15 minutes to be exact. Wow. That is some really fast help I got. So far I have $8 in my Review Stream account. Once I reach payout (which I will definitely try to reach by next week) and get the money into my Paypal account, I will declare if this site is truly genuine or not.

Shared Reviews

Shared Reviews is a site that pays you for doing reviews (as its name so obviously states). You can review about anything and everything, from your TV to your blender even your shoes. The review must be at least 75 words long and must be grammatically correct as well as properly divided into paragraphs.

Now the payment method was very attractive when the site was in its Beta stage. All you had to do was submit articles and get paid for them. The payment rate at that time was 10USD for every 5 articles. Thats 2USD per article (but they pay in batches of 5). The maximum amount they will pay you is 150USD. For me, that was a very attractive payment rate at that time. I easily managed to earn 140USD (thats right, 70 articles) and they paid me as they approved my articles. That means that this site is definitely genuine.

However, now they have changed their payment methods. You are supposed to write articles and people will vote for them. If your article generates money, the money will be split between you, them and the people who voted for your article. The same goes if you vote for other peoples articles. This method of earning is very slow and takes considerable amount of commitment and time to actually make money out of this site now. I made a few bucks out of this new method but so far they haven't paid me yet. They are also going to introduce bounties, a new method to earn money from that site but so far I haven't heard anything new from them about the bounties. You can also sign up with them to be a freelance writer if you think you are qualified enough.
